So, it’s E3 time. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo square up against each other to wow us with what is to come. In reality of course, it’s simply a big dick-waving session. But we win in the end.
Today sees Microsoft’s press briefing. Microsoft always try to make a big splash, and from whhat they have shown today they have done a pretty damn good job. It’s hard to imagine how Sony can better this. And Nintendo? Well, there’s no real point them turning up.

Windows 7 arrives at 22nd October -

 Microsoft have announced that their latest operating system Windows 7 will be generally available at 22nd of October, 2009. That means that by far the best OS Microsoft have ever produced will hit the store shelves at that date. Microsoft also say that Release To Manufacturing (RTM) code for Windows 7 will be available to their partners in the 2nd half of July.
I am running Windows 7 Release Candidate and I have never been happier with an OS than now. Fortunately, Release Candidate will be working until March next year, so there’s no hurry in purchasing the final version.

Samsung Pixon 12 Details Released
Samsung have announced their latest mobile phone named the Samsung Pixon 12. The Pixon 12’s main feature is it’s beast of a camera that can capture images at 12 megapixels. As well as having a large resolution camera built in, the phone also has a 3.1 inch AMOLED touchscreen and 150MB of internal memory which can be bumped up to 16GB via a MicroSD card.
Connectivity wise it has HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and an internet GPS chip is also included. The 12 megapixel camera can capture vidoe’s at 30fps with a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels.
The camera has a 28mm wide angle lens allowing it to capture some decent shots close up. As well as having the 28mm lens other features such as auto-focus tracking which allow the user to tap the point... |

Mighty Gadget Blog: The latest technology news & reviews in the UK
 We already new that Windows 7 would be released in 2009 and we have previously speculated it would be available on 23rd of October, but now Microsoft has given us an official date of October 22nd.
This is one version of Windows I think we will all be happy to upgrade too.

Last week we reported that the Microsoft Zune HD had been announced after much speculation over the months as to what it might actually encompass as a device. Some of the wilder ideas such as it being a portable Xbox gaming device or it being a Zune mobile phone to compete with Apple’s media player/mobile phone, the iPhone - as we saw these were pretty wide of the mark.
However, what the Microsoft Zune HD has delivered on is what looks like a fairly decent effort at a mp3/media playing device, it may not have the big-name and reputation of the iPod, but what it does do is show that there are still areas in which Apple can be bettered!

Samsung Pixon 12 M8910: Snap-happy 12-megapixel touchscreen phone -

Less than a week after the Sony Ericsson Satio was officially launched as the first 12-megapixel phone, Samsung has announced the equally specced Pixon 12 M8910.
According to Akihabara News, the M8910 will arrive in Europe in June. It will boast a resolution bump from the original 8-megapixel Samsung Pixon, which some users reckoned was basically an 8-megapixel Tocco.
The M8910 features a 79mm (3.1-inch) AMOLED touchscreen. Camera functions include touch-based focus, allowing you to tap on the screen to select what you want to focus on. The Sony PSP Go will come with a 3.8 inch display, and 16GB of built in memory, there is also memory stick micro slot, and it has full PlayStation Network support which means you will be able to download movies and TV shows to it.

Lenovo Ideapad S12 -

 Lenovo has revealed yet another new netbook to their range, although this one is slightly different than previous models as it uses NVIDIA’s Ion platform.
The Lenovo Ideapad S12 features a 12.1 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800, a full sized keyboard, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, HDMI out and a built in card reader.
It is also capable of playing 1080p HD video, which is pretty impressive for a netbook, this is thanks to the new NVIDIA Ion platform which uses a combination of an Intel Atom processor and an NVIDIA 9400m graphics chip.
Other specifications on the Lenovo Ideapad S12 include built in WiFi, 3 USB 2.0 ports, and it will come with Windows XP.
The Lenovo Ideapad S12 is due to go on sale in June for around $449.
