Schoolboy defeats hedgehog ban via Nothing To Do With Arbroath
A schoolboy in Kansas has emerged victorious in his battle to change the law of his city - so that could have a pet hedgehog. 11-year-old Judson King triumphed after campaigning against local laws that banned the animals from the city of Lawrence. Inspired by a love of Sonic the Hedgehog, and determined to own a real-life version, King spent three years researching how to change the law before presenting his case to city commissioners. The commissioners were impressed by his prepared speech, and the dossier he had prepared with information about hedgehogs. And, despite some initial concerns that hedgehogs - which are not native to North America - might harbour foot-and-mouth disease, the commissioners could find no reason to continue banning hedgehogs from the city limits. 'I think he... “Playing golf can ‘damage hearing’” via arbitrary constant

Last year Modulate put a call out for a ‘Sonic Beatnik’ to undertake a three month International Artist Fellowship and, of 24 applicants, New Zealander Damian Frey was selected.
In May 2008 Damian re visited us in Birmingham and we took the opportunity to talk to him about his experience of being here, and how the residency had impacted on his creative path since then. We also collaborated on a piece of work, something we hadn’t done much during his residency.
These conversations are in the form of three videos:

WARNING: This golf club may cause deafness via Anorak News
NOT that The Daily Mail wants to scare you pantsless or anything… OK, they want to scare you pantsless. This just in:
“Modern titanium clubs create a ’sonic boom’ when they connect with the ball, say scientists.
Golfers who use titanium clubs risk damaging their hearing
The risk of going deaf is so great that doctors are advising golfers to wear earplugs while they play their tee shots.
Experts have identified at least one case of a golfer of 55 who they believe has damaged his hearing as a result of using one of the new drivers three times a week for the last 18 months.”
Holy crap, is nothing safe anymore? Not even a gentle game of golf, it seems. Here at Anorak HQ, we’re sticking to cage fighting. Much safer than a good walk spoiled.

This morning, I found two “chairs of the future” that I couldn’t resist covering.
The first is a concept called the “Organic Workstation”. Designer Stevie Miles Brewu set out to create the ultimate ergonomic and interactive station for work and play with a framework that resembles a dentist’s chair. The Organic Workstation is fully adjustable, and allows users to select an angle for their seating, keyboard, and foot rest.
The second is the Sonic Care Touch, with a spherical cushion design that acts as a speaker. That’s right, if you want to watch a movie on the included touchscreen iMac, you will feel the sound rise up from beneath you. Talk about surround sound!
So if you had to pick one to be your chair, which would it be? I suppose that my practical,... Want to Play Mario Kart? (in Real Life?) via Hi Tech Gadgets & Tech News Blog - Zath!

Just What Is The Next Doctors TARDIS? via Life, Doctor Who & Combom
We all know from the opening two minutes of The Next Doctor that David Morrisseys sonic screwdriver is little more then a regular screwdriver. So what about the TARDIS? Its unlikely he will have a real TARDIS/Police Box.So just what is his TARDIS? A shed with a coat of blue paint? A horse and carriage painted blue? OK, I admit I'm being silly, but the more observant among us will remember seeing the BBC mock-up of The Next Doctor DVD Cover, do you remember what was at the top right? It was a hot air balloon.New versions of the DVD Cover now have the balloon removed, and to be honest I can't find a picture of it anywhere on the net (help anyone?). I realize that the title of this particular article is obvious, to say the least. After all, this tiny device is called the Sonic Nausea because it uses “a unique combination of ultra-high frequency soundwaves” to produce nauseous effects for those in its range.
The Sonic Nausea is also capable of causing “headaches, intense irritation, sweating, imbalance”, as well as making people puke. It is powered by a 9-volt battery that is actually bigger than the device itself. That won’t get you too much power, but it is possible to increase the runtime with six AA batteries with transistor clips.
The device is available at the SHOMER-TEC site for about $29.00, and the description states the possibilities are endless. For example: “hiding this device in your inconsiderate... Portable Megadrive via Hi Tech Gadgets & Tech News Blog - Zath!
As Christmas is fast approaching, here at Zath we’re trying to find those little extra ‘stocking fillers’ to get your loved ones, kids or even yourselves.
So, whilst out looking for things, I came across this little beauty which was quite exciting to some extent – it’s only a Portable Megadrive!
There are 20 pre-loaded games available on this handheld Sega Megadrive which include:
Sonic & Knuckles, Shinobi III - Return Of The Ninja Master, Alex Kidd (and the Enchanted Castle), Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Columns III, Crack Down, Decap Attack, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, E Swat, Ecco, Ecco Jr, Flicky, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, Jewel Master, Kid Chameleon, Sonic Spinball, Shadow Dancer.
The reason I say, to some extent, is that is seems that these are... David Morrissey could be the next Dr Who via TARDIS Newsroom - Doctor Who News

More About David Morrissey As The Eleventh Doctor via Life, Doctor Who & Combom
Human Nature -The Doctor (As John Smith) to Martha: I dream I'm this... Adventurer. This... daredevil, a madman. "The Doctor", I'm called. And last night I dreamt that you were there, as my... companion. So a Chameleon Arch (fob watch) still leaves buried memories! What if David Morrissey really is Doctor eleven, but doesn't realise this, after using a Chameleon Arch? He dreams he is the Doctor, and carries his dreams into the real world as fantasies, in Victorian London. It is obvious he is a fake ATM, although its hard to make out, I'm assured his Sonic Screwdriver is just a screwdriver, and I'm inclined to agree - but how does he know the term Sonic Screwdriver in the first place?I suspect the Copper Cyberman is of his, or of someone working for him, making..I suspect at he end of the... Thoughts On The Two Minute Clip Of The Next Doctor via Life, Doctor Who & Combom
I've just seen the two minute clip of the Next Doctor, and here are thoughts and observations...- David Morrisseys sonic screwdriver looks different to David Tennants, lower tech, could it be fake?- Unlike Tennant, Morrisssey doesn't carry the screwdriver, Rosita, his assistant does.- Mossissey seems pleased there is a crisis, unlike Tennant.- Go and wait in the TARDIS, Rosita? Whats all that about?- The Copper Cyberman head is riveted together.I suspect Morrissey may be a fake Doctor, but the twist at the end that Russell T Davies speaks of may prove otherwise, perhaps Morriseys Doctor is the eleventh doctor a-la-a fob watch, so ATM he is playing at being the Doctor, but in reality, he is the real deal?It leaves me with more questions than answers!...
