The BGR has received some details of the next version of Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone OS, version 4.0, and we could see it a lot sooner than we thought as Apple may unveil iPhone OS 4.0 at next weeks special event on the 27th of January. Some of the features in iPhone OS 4.0 include multitouch gestures which are OS wide, this would make sense as the OS for the rumored Apple Tablet is expected to be similar to that of the iPhone. One interesting feature revealed, which is on a lot of smartphones, but not the iPhone is multitasking, or the ability to run applications in the background, this would definitely be a welcome addition to the iPhone OS. There are quite a few iPhone owners who would like the ability to use a Bluetooth keyboard with their iPhone, now you can if you own a jailbroken iPhone. One clever hacker has created a driver that can be installed on your jailbroken iPhone, once it is installed all you need to do is pair your iPhone with your Bluetooth keyboard. This iPhone Bluetooth keyboard driver fills this gap. It is based on the open-source BTstack project, a Bluetooth stack designed for embedded devices where resources are scarce. Vodafone has announced details of its pricing for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G on its UK mobile phone network, both models of the iPhone are available to pre-order as of today from Vodafone. The Vodafone iPhone will be available to new and existing customers from the 14th of January 2010. We told you last month that Tesco would start selling the Apple iPhone, it looks like the iPhone will be available from Tesco Mobile from Monday the 14th of December in the UK. The other day we reported that Apple [AAPL] was shipping their latest iPhone 3GS with a new bootrom update which would effectively stop the iPhone 3GS being jailbroken for the moment. The good news is that according to Eric McDonald from the iPhone Dev team, any iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom can still be jailbroken, and that the new bootrom only causes a temporary inconvenience. According to Eric McDonald the new bootrom interferes with the 24kpwn exploit that was used to previously jialbreak the iPhone and that it will only make the iPhone difficult to start up after it shuts down. Up until now, when an iPhone users contract has ended with O2, they have refused to unlock the iPhone so that it could be used on another network on the grounds that they have the exclusive rights for the iPhone. The iPhone Dev team has released the latest version of their iPhone Pwnage Tool 3.1.3. Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 will let your upgrade your iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 2G to iPhone firmware 3.1, but only if you are using a custom jailbreak on your iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.0 or 3.0.1. The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 – PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box.
