image The BGR has received some details of the next version of Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone OS, version 4.0, and we could see it a lot sooner than we thought as Apple may unveil iPhone OS 4.0 at next weeks special event on the 27th of January. One interesting feature revealed, which is on a lot of smartphones, but not the iPhone is multitasking, or the ability to run applications in the background, this would definitely be a welcome addition to the iPhone OS. It looks like the UI make be getting a bit of a redesign and it is reported that the new UI will make the iPhone easier and more efficient to use....

image Here is a useful accessory for your iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, the Bandshell iPhone Case, which as well as protecting your iPhone is designed to reflect sound from the iPhone’s built in speakers. The Bandshell iPhone case is ultra-slim, durable and improves your iPhone listening and viewing experience. This dual-purpose iPhone case amplifies the volume and sound quality of your music and videos, without the need for extra speakers or cords. The Bandshell’s flat side makes it easier to watch movies and videos without having to hold the iPhone or lean it against something. The built in speakers on the iPhone aren’t the best if you want to watch a movie, I usually end up using some headphones or a portable speaker, so this case could end up being quite useful depending on...

New iPhone 3GS Can Still Be Jailbroken via Geeky Gadgets October 16th, 2009 at 14:27

image The other day we reported that Apple [AAPL] was shipping their latest iPhone 3GS with a new bootrom update which would effectively stop the iPhone 3GS being jailbroken for the moment. The good news is that according to Eric McDonald from the iPhone Dev team, any iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom can still be jailbroken, and that the new bootrom only causes a temporary inconvenience. According to Eric McDonald the new bootrom interferes with the 24kpwn exploit that was used to previously jialbreak the iPhone and that it will only make the iPhone difficult to start up after it shuts down. To reboot the iPhone you will need to plug it into your PC or Mac, so basically if your iPhone 3GS runs out of power or you shut it down it with need to be tethered for it to turn back on again. How To Jailbreak Your iPhone With Blackra1n via Geeky Gadgets October 13th, 2009 at 17:13

image Yesterday we wrote about the latest iPhone Jailbreak tool from Geohot for Windows that will jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch, Blackra1n. I thought it would be useful to our readers if we put together a short guide on how to use Blackra1n to Jailbreak your iPhone. First off  if you want your iPhone to be unlocked to use with another carrier, don’t upgrade to 3.1.2 and do not use Blackra1n to jailbreak your iPhone as you wont be able to unlock it from your carrier. The first thing you will need to do is download the Blackra1n.exe file, this can be downloaded from the Blackra1n website link below. Download Blackra1n iPhone 3.1.2 Jailbreak One you have downloaded Blackra1n connect your iPhone to your PC and click on the Blackra1n.exe icon, next click ‘make it......

Apple releases iPhone OS 3.1.2 Its not been very long since iPhone OS 3.1 was released but Apple yesterday just released an update for the iPhone OS, upgrading it to 3.1.2. Though this appears to be just a minor update fixing the widely reported issues where the iPhone would not wake from sleep and also an issue involving video streaming, playback and cellular service, we would recommend any iPhone user who has a jailbroken / unlocked iPhone to delay from installing this update. For those not jailbreaking their iPhones or are using their iPhones with your default carrier, you can go straight ahead and download this update which is available through iTunes for the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS (as well as the...

O2 To Unlock The iPhone After Contracts End? via Geeky Gadgets October 5th, 2009 at 11:58

image Up until now, when an iPhone users contract has ended with O2, they have refused to unlock the iPhone so that it could be used on another network on the grounds that they have the exclusive rights for the iPhone. As they have now lost the exclusive rights for the iPhone, with Vodafone and Orange offering it later this year, they cant really use that excuse anymore if a customer wants their iPhone unlocked. According to The Register, O2 still haven’t come to a decision on whether or not to unlock customers iPhone’s at the end of their contract, here is what they had to say about it. “we did not offer unlocking at the end of a customer’s iPhone contract as we had the exclusive contract for the iPhone in the UK. Obviously, that situation has changed… and we are...

iPhone Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 For iPhone 3GS via Geeky Gadgets October 3rd, 2009 at 07:40

image The iPhone Dev team has released the latest version of their iPhone Pwnage Tool 3.1.3. Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 will let your upgrade your iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 2G to iPhone firmware 3.1, but only if you are using a custom jailbreak on your iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.0 or 3.0.1. The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 – PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 pre-installed and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment. If you have already upgraded to version 3.1, you wont be able to Jailbreak your iPhone with the Pwnage Tool 3.1.3, you will have to wait until the iPhone Dev team releases the next version. iPhone Dev Team This is a post from Geeky Gadgets, who...

More good news for iPhone owners today, as UK mobile phone network Vodafone has announced that it will be selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS in the UK from early next year. This is great news for iPhone customers, and now this will give them a choice of three mobile phone networks in the UK to have the iPhone on, which is bound to encourage competition and bring more competitive prices and contracts to customers. No doubt we will see much better deals than the current iPhone provider O2 have been offering to iPhone customers over the past two years since they signed their exclusive deal with Apple. via Engadget This is...
