HTC Legend Android phone reviewed
Unfortunately, we didn’t do this review, but with a sparkling 3.2-inch AMOLED, five megapixel camera with flash, running on a 600 MHz CPU and Android 2.1 and of course all possible connectivities you can imagine, the HTC Legend has the potential to be an outstanding smartphone.
It sports a touchscreen rather than a full QWERTY and has pretty much the characteristics of its predecessor, the HTC Hero. However, compared to the Hero, almost every feature and hardware specification has received an upgrade, supposedly making it much less buggy than first generation HTC Android phones.
I personally like the quality of the AMOLED alot and think that HTC has done an excellent job at perfecting this phone....

The HTC Supersonic was first heard of back in December when the HTC Hero Android 2.1 ROM was opened up and the name found within. A couple of months later towards the end of January, BGR managed to get hold of a leaked screen shot saying that the Supersonic was to run Android 3.0 when launched. The day after we spotted some renderings of the Supersonic showing potential of the phone (if real). The Supersonic is said to have a large 4.3 inch screen and has been described as being the Android version of the HTC HD2 that also runs a massive screen.Today we came across some video of the HTC Supersonic in action. As always, the video is very blurry as well as being shaky although you do get to see the nice sized screen and get a good impression of what the hardware looks like. Hopefully seeing...

HTC Legend unveiled
After a long wait, HTC finally announces Legend (Android based Smartphone) and its official. One of the reason behind its wait is that the fact that Legend is being seen as the spiritual successor to HTC Hero.
Although Nexus One did not live up to expectations, but HTC is all set to prove its metal again. HTC Legend posses the same angled design with the classic Android ‘chin’ as that of the super hit HTC Hero. HTC has designed Legend with a single aluminum sheet. Yes, it sounds pretty much like the Apple way but one can easily find a hint of HTC touch to it.
Legend incorporates a wonderful 3.2 inches touch screen display with a picture resolution of 320 X 480 HVGA. Despite of conventional trackball, Legend features an...

HTC MANIA OR WHAT??? Now this is the icing on the cake for HTC at Mobile World Congress, not only with the Desire and HD mini have we seen the potential of two great new mobiles but then they saved the best till last with this bad boy.
Like Apple’s MacBook Pro these smartphones are made from a single block of Aluminium set with black plastic making them look the dog’ danglies. Rocking a similar shape to last years Hero phone, the bottom of which protruded like Jimmy Hill’s chin, has been made a little less obvious and has been given a new optical trackball for extra responsive use.
Housed within the lovely metal is the usual gubbins of 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth running the latest Android: Eclair 2.1 OS and HTC’s own “Sense” UI. It also sports a 5MP camera with a...

Sprint have announced on Twitter that the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment will both qualify for an Android 2.1 update. Before this particular twitter message arrived, Sprint had previously said that the Android 2.1 update would be coming to both phones sometime in the 1st half of this year, so it’s no big surprise that the window has been refined a little.Although 2nd Quarter 2010 is still several weeks away, we have been told that it will be an early Q2 launch which hopefully means Hero and Moment users will get their hands on the OTA update sometime in April. As soon as we get an even smaller window for launch we’ll post an update here.Via: EngadgetAndroid 2.1 Update for Hero and Moment Coming Soon...

HTC have announced the HTC Legend Android 2.1 based mobile phone that comes with the new HTC Sense. The Legend is built around the new Sense UI that HTC have been working on. The device has a 3.2 inch AMOLED HVGA display that provides crisp images.Rather than using the traditional trackball, HTC have opted for an optical joystick in it’s place with the surrounding area of the optical sensor being a clickable area. The phone has a unibody design to the casing making it durable and strong. The HTC Legend is being launched in Europe on to the Vodafone network in April and in quarter 2 it will be rolled out to other parts of the world (Asia being specifically mentioned).Moving back to the new HTC Sense, HTC also mention that when launched the Sense update will be offered freely to those...

HTC have been busy and have unveiled a number of new mobiles at the MWC.
Thing is that, in my opinion, none of them look as lovely as the HTC Legend.
The body is carved from a single piece of aluminum – Mmmmm….. unibody….. I hope Apple are watching!
Under that gorgeous hood purrs Android 2.1 wrapped up in HTC Sense.
It’s fitted with a 3.2 inch capacitive AMOLED screen with a res of 320 x 480 pixels.
The Legend sports a 5.0 megapixel snapper that’s paired up with autofocus and flash.
This is all pushed along by a 600 MHz processor and 512MB ROM and 384MB of RAM.
There’s a microSD slot to increase it’s capacity as well as the now expected Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
I’m particularly digging this “helicopter view”. Perhaps...

New PhoneOne of the things that I love is new technology and I decided last week to update my phone, and even though I only got it today I am loving it. I upgraded to the HTC Hero otherwise known as the T-Mobile G2 and it is a fantastic phone, I must admit to being slightly annoyed that even though I was staying for an extra 18 months they would not give me it for free (cheap skates!) however, I have fully charged the phone -extremely important- put the sim in and started to use it.One of the things that I like about the phone is the 'apps' and from what I can tell in contrast with the IPhone and it's applications most of those available for this phone are free to download! I have so far used the maps feature, the weather and the email feature and the etch a sketch (just a bit of fun) and...

Om my god I thought to myself as I drove along. Funnily I am back to using a N95 again, after a couple of years with Windows Touchscreen devices and more recently the wondrous HTC Hero.
Well the voice comes on the radio and announces free voice navigation from now on with my Nokia N95.
I have to tell you that the N95 still stands out as a superb piece of kit. Even having used ‘more advanced’ gadgets since first falling in love with the N95.
So I am happy about that, my return to Symbian and the easy way in which the phone works, its easy operability and ruggedness - so a free upgrade to the Sat Nav was a great concept.
I visit therefore Nokia Maps Updater online and look forward to updating my phone with a certain pride that it is still the ‘dogs’.
Then Nokia hits...

A few days ago we mentioned the HTC Espresso was spied with some updated Sense UI features. The images of the ROM showed some new buttons that had translucent backgrounds along with a bit more integration with contacts.
A video has now been revealed showing the ROM in action that is running on a HTC Hero. Although it does look like quite a nice ROM the main problems I see on the video is the lack of response to the user touching the screen and a bit of lag with things loading up. One thing to note though is that it is running on different hardware to what it was designed to run on, so perhaps with some tweaks to the ROM things will function at a decent speed.
New features I can see are the slide down bar now featuring a recently used apps tray allowing you to quickly access features you...

Roundup: All about the Google Phone (Nexus One) so far…
Its nearly Christmas holiday time for us here at GadgetLite, so we thought we better cover one more thing thats really been hot and trendy for the last two weeks in the technology world. The Google Phone aka Nexus One, by now, all gadget fans will probably have heard of how amazing it is.
While the hype may be fading since we now know that its definitely real and not just a concept as evidenced by FCC approval, its interesting to see what people who have seen the actual phone think of this monstrous phone!
To sum up, the “uncertain” hardware specs of the Nexus One that are known at this point are largely what you would expect, far more superior than...

[Denmark] Danish telco TDC’s Play service, which provides unlimited music downloads for its broadband and mobile customers, has extended its offering to include unlimited streaming, reports Music Ally.
This makes Play even more comparable to Spotify, which although yet to launch in Denmark, does operate in neighboring Sweden and Norway. There are other similarities too.
Spotify clearly sees deals with ISPs and mobile broadband providers as a big part of its future. The startup already has two such arrangements in place. Swedish telco Telia has signed a two year deal to offers Spotify to its subscribers – desktop, mobile and TV – while 3 in the UK have begun bundling the service with a 24-month contract and the Android-powered HTC Hero handset.
In return, TDC have clearly...

HTC have launched four new widgets for the Hero/Eris Android phones. The first is a battery widget that shows a small battery icon on the home screen. When tapped a widget pops open that shows the current status of the battery including how much charge is left, what the battery temperature is, how it is being charged/discharged as well as the general health of the battery.
The next widget shows information on events from history over the past years such as historic events.
The other applications include a Dice and a Tip Calculator which should be self explanatory. It is unclear at the moment if HTC will launch the widgets on to other Android based phones. Also it is unknown if HTC will continue to make more widgets or if these first four are just to gauge interest in widgets in general....

Ah, The Google Phone.
That mythical, legendary and oft rumoured handset that has taunted the iPhone from the safe confines of non-Apple-lovin folk for the last couple of years.
That is all set to change next month as the G-branded blower is (allegedly) ready to drop in a few weeks.
Twitter reports from a CNet staffer and some Google employees suggest the phone, built by HTC and running Android 2.1, could be available in January 2010.
There are even versions out there that are unlocked and have been groped by Googlers at an all-hands meeting.
The best of the gPhone Tweets comes from CNet podcaster Jason Howell, who Tweeted:
-”Capacitive touch screen and on screen keyboard only, yes. Re: AT&T, it was unlocked. Dude just put an AT&T sim in it 2 test it.”
–”It was thin. Dare...

It seems that HTC the Taiwanese mobile company will continue to use the Android platform with a supposed 20 new phones on the horizon. With the success of the Hero and the well reviewed HD2 this can only be a good thing.
The rumours have come from a text thread inside the new Android 2.1 ROM. Some of the names within have been seen before but some new have shown up. Since the first phone released the T-Mobile G1, HTC have used the Google made OS in its phones. I personally have not used one but with the sheer volume of new phones using and big mobile manufacturers switching to it, it must be a solid performing OS leading to so many great reviews of Android phones.
The full list of names within the ROM are Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC,...

It seems that HTC are refusing to rest on their laurels even though the HTC HD2 (pictured) seems to be pretty impressive.
Word has slipped out that the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer could be planning to launch 20 more Android-powered handsets.
The names of the new devices appear to have been written inside a thread from the recently spotted Android 2.1 ROM.
Some have surfaced before but there’s a load of new ones. Check out the list:
Hero and the Dream (G1) we know about but then there’s Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire and Supersonic.
Chances are there’s a few in the list that wont be making it to Europe or the States carrying that...

If you remember the last few days you will have seen information revealed about a Hero ROM that leaked which turned out to be Android 2.1. Of course the firmware was quickly investigated and run on a phone to see what it was all about with a version hitting XDA Developers that can be downloaded now to your phone and tested.
After more research was done it has been revealed that a number of phone code names have been included in the firmware that shows a total of 19 Android phone’s could be coming out soon. Details of the phone names after the jump.
The list includes the following phones… Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire, Supersonic.
We obviously...

Sick of being stuck in the Android-update slow lane, HTC Hero hackers have taken matters into their own hands and released a mostly working version of Android...

Yesterday we showed you some screen shots of Android 2.1 running on the Hero. The guys over at XDA Developers have managed to obtain a leaked copy of the OS and made it available for download on the Hero.
The installation of the ROM is fairly straight forwards although you will first need to root your phone. After that you simply run a backup, wipe the phone and install the new ROM.
As the procedure does involve messing with the ROM and installing the ROM we always recommend proceeding with caution as you might end up with an expensive brick.
Full details of the Hero 2.1 ROM can be found here along with the instructions and details of what does and what doesn’t work.
On another note, the guys over at XDA have also managed to get the ROM working on the Dream/G1 with full instructions...

Recently we mentioned that the Google Phone was being worked on and that perhaps, it is to have an early next year launch. A trusted source mentioned recently to Gizmodo that the Google Phone “is a certainty” along with a bit more information about what we can expect from a phone.
The Google Phone is not another phone that runs Android… it is actually a phone built (perhaps we should say branded) by Google [GOOG] that will apparently run a new “real” version of Android. The version of Android running on this new hardware will be different to what has previously been seen such as 2.0 on the Motorola DROID or the even more recent news of Android 2.1 running on the HTC Hero.
It seems like the new prototype versions of the Google Phone will be invading Google...

Some screen shots were spotted showing the HTC Hero running a yet unlaunched Android 2.1 operating system. The phone is running Sense and screen shots of both portrait and landscape modes can be seen running.
Some speculation of why the screen is in landscape mode has been questions. Two possibilities are that Android 2.1 is heading to a new phone with a slide out keyboard. The second option is that accelerometers are just detecting the phone is being held landscape and has rotated the screen accordingly.
There isn’t really much else to be said about the images other than what looks to be a new Sync menu that gives you a few options for syncing data with your GMail account.
We will probably hear more in the next few weeks on these screen shots to see if Android 2.1 is really...
Well I was recommended the HTC Hero by a lovely Mel at Orange upgrades ( over the Samsung HD Omnia ) and I am forever in her debt.
The Android powereed phone is like a natural progression into the area of cloud computing. I had already made forays into this via extensive usage of Google Apps and the HTC Hero just took it to a new level - cloud computing on the move.
The best thing you can say about a new gadget it that it is intuitive - and it is to the max!
Touchscreen is a joy and far more user friendly than the Omnia i900’s fiddly stylus dictated function.
What HTC have delivered here is a beatiful package which does credit to the Android’s ease of use.
Apps install simply and the market has thousands of useful packages.
Everyone keeps going on about the iphone but in...

Android 1.6 phones get Google Maps Navigation – free GPS app with voice guidance
What was first unveiled exclusively on the Motorola Droid is now available to the rest of the Android gang. If you’ve got an Android phone running version 1.6, you’ll be able to download the new Google Maps Navigation application for free off the Android Market from today.
Android 1.6 phones in the US currently include the currently available T-Mobile mytouch 3G, the G1 and the HTC Tattoo, as well as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. However handsets like the HTC Hero, Droid Eris, Samsung Moment and the Samsung Behold II all run Android 1.5 so won’t be getting the new feature.
While you will get features like turn by...
