◘ V&A Quilts via ◘ race of style March 13th, 2010 at 00:48

image Coming up next week at the V & A, their first ever exhibition of British quilts dating from 1700 to the present day. Sixty five quilts will be on display, (many from the V&A’s unseen collection) and to celebrate, the V&A Shop and Liberty Art Fabrics have collaborated on a limited edition collection of quilting fabrics, available now to buy online from both outlets. Also as part of the celebration, the V&A shop are offering a commemorative panel (see above centre) printed from an original textile piece, created exclusively for the V&A by UK artist Natasha Kerr. Intrigued by the panel, I soon discovered that the old adage ‘Every Picture Tells A Story’ could have been invented for Natasha. Inspired by an album of old family photographs given to her by her...

iPhone 4G Leaked Pics or Return to Render? via GadgetyNews.com March 12th, 2010 at 14:36

image Now leaks are one thing and, being the untrusting fellow that I am, even though I want these shots of the iPhone 4G to be real I can’t help but shout ‘render!’. True; plenty of work has gone into this and the exposed brickwork setting is very tasteful but something isn’t sitting right. I like the idea of a choice of colours and docks for the next gen iPhone – do we still think it will have the name of 4G? Let’s face it; who thought Stevie J would go for iPad as a name? These ‘leaked’ shots are all in their full glory on umpcfever.com. I hope I’m wrong but I’m just not feeling this – are you? image In the UK yesterday 3 New Labour MP’s and an opposition Conservative member of the House of Lords insisted that they should not be tried in the courts when they appeared before a judge on charges of expenses fraud. Elliot Morley, David Chaytor, Jim Devine and Lord Hanningfield said the allegations against them should be considered by parliamentary authorities instead of a jury. They said they were protected from criminal prosecution by the right of parliamentary privilege, dating back to the Bill of Rights of 1689. The MPs also asked to be spared the humiliation of being forced to stand in the dock at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Their request was denied and they then pleaded not guilty. Now regardless of their guilt or innocence, which doubtless will be...
