Eroica via (unnamed source) November 19th, 2009 at 23:50

This Friday, Saturday & Sunday, tens of thousands of  people will converge upon London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre, for a mass celebration of  Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony. Why, when they arrive, they’ll be greeted with 18” dildos, bondage tape and a show by Torture Garden, is a bit of a mystery to me though. What? Oh, Erotica, not Eroica. Well...

404 Error “Spam” via Cornell Finch October 28th, 2009 at 17:54

One of the things that concerns me about traffic to the blog is that lost of my referrers are hitting a 404 error when clicking the link to my site. The dreaded 404 error is what a user will get when they visit a link on your site that no longer exists. Thankfully WordPress catches the 404 and gives a slightly nicer error than the generic one that is generated by the web server. It’s still not a great page to see and I know there’s ways (using plugins) to make it even more friendly. I had a quick look when I got home from work at anything that might help me solve the problem. Very quickly, knowing that other people would have had the same thought, I found the 404 Notifier Plugin for WordPress from the always excellent Alex King. There was a warning when I installed it that...

Wrist watch Tattoo via Coolest Gadgets July 10th, 2009 at 18:42

image I don’t know if this next product is some sort of joke, but it feels like a sick one. If the photo to the left here was a video, you might see what I am talking about. What you see in the picture is not some guy with a stamp of “01:35” on his wrist, but those numbers change as time goes by. Yes, this is a wristwatch that is somehow implanted onto your wrist. It uses the natural kinetic energy for power, and it uses a wireless signal to sync up to an external clock to make certain your wrist is always on time. So this an electric tattoo of a watch that is always there, no matter what. It is even planned to have the numbers glow when you hold your wrist up to view the time. I can’t help but wonder if this guy has the month and day on his left wrist. Okay, I personally...

Neuma Hybrid Tattoo Needle Gun - Eco Buzz via GadgetyNews.com April 8th, 2009 at 18:50

image Those who know me will already be aware that I like inked skin - not silly cartoon characters or names of lovers: I mean body art that means something to the wearer and will continue to mean something when the ink has faded and the skin gone wrinkly. If I hadn’t moved from Yorkshire to London I’m sure that I would’ve added more to the ones I have - I already have an Haida design in mind to go on my inner right forearm and my backpiece has been designed for about 6 years now. Why all this tat talk anyhow? Well, I’ve come across a hybrid tattoo machine. The Neuma Hybrid is the next logical step from The original Neuma, which was the world’s first air-driven tattoo machine. Its design promised a less painful tattoo - quite frankly none of my tats have been...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo via John Baker's Blog January 16th, 2009 at 10:01

Steig Larsson, born in 1954, was a journalist. He was one of the world’s leading experts on anti-democratic, right-wing extremist and Nazi organizations. He died suddenly and unexpectedly in November 2004, soon after delivering the manuscripts for three crime novels to his Swedish publisher. The first of those manuscripts was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Industrialist Henrik Vanger has lived for forty years in the belief that someone in his family murdered his niece, Harriet. Journalist Mikael Blomkvist agrees to go under cover to discover the identity of the culprit. But someone else will go to any lengths to hide the truth. Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo and a security expert, is to assist in Blomkvist’s investigation. This is a strange novel, 538...

The truth behind Kym Marsh’s tattoo via Coronation Street Blog November 6th, 2008 at 19:40

image Emails regularly come in to the blog asking if there's a meaning behind Kym Marsh's tattoo. Kym, as Coronation Street fans will know, plays Michelle Connor in Corrie.Well, in a 2002 edition of OK! magazine, Kym was quoted saying this about one of her tattoos. Apparantly, she got it for her husband, Jack Ryder.Q: "You've got a new tattoo, which spells Jack in Chinese. Was it a surprise for him?"Kym: "Yes, I'd been away for a few days to see my family and I went to the tattooist who did my other tattoos. I asked him what the symbol for Jack was - I always check because it could mean egg fried rice! It was very painful."Jack and Kym have now split and Kym is rumoured to be marrying this...

Fame’s Bright Glow via The Richard Madeley Appreciation Society August 7th, 2008 at 23:16

It always surprises me when people hand me compliments. I don’t mean small compliments. Those I usually deserve and I take whenever and wherever I can. I mean big compliments; praise that’s heavy in the packaging and with the postage to deliver it across the dense hinterland of my vast and incalculable ego. Compliments of this sort are a powerful drug. They are overwhelming gifts of generosity that leave me believing every flattery. Or, at least, I did until quite recently when I realised that it’s only my fame that these people enjoy. This type of compliment says more about the people giving them than they do about the object of their praise. I know that my fame is the reason why some people read what I write. And that’s the only reason. Celebrity is like that. The candle never...
