Not including his voiceover work, Newman appeared in Empire Falls in 2005. His work won him an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie.
Newman was scheduled to make his professional stage directing debut with the Westport Country Playhouse’s 2008 production of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. He stepped down in May.

The first film I ever saw was The Towering Inferno, staring Steve McQueen (long-since deceased) and Paul Newman (who died this weekend). It was therefore a somewhat poignant moment when I heard the news about the latter’s death, he was truly one of Hollywood’s greats and one of the main reasons I’ve been come such a big fan of the moving picture art form.

Local news this week is a bit of a mixed bag.The LibDems administration in Islington are certainly not doing themselves any favours with their recent increase in Councillor allowances. According to the Islington Tribune the councillors have voted for themselves a staggering 5.5 per cent inflation-busting pay rise. That's just being greedy.Personally I've never been very happy the way the allowance were agreed upon under the previous administration.
