Eugene Kim is responsible for this concept design. It is called the Eagle Phone and is a dual screen device.
The concept was designed for a competition that LG is holding. The Eagle Phone wasn't picked for the final although it did quite well.
The screens on the Eagle Phone are touch sensitive allowing users to interact with the device with one or both hands. The Eagle Phone also folds up as pictured below.
We doubt we will ever see anything come of the Eagle Phone although we think the design is still rather good. However, it also looks a little impractical as it doesn't fold up completely flat from what the concept images show below.

Luis Mumford an American philosopher has rightly said that ‘’however far modern science and techniques have fallen short of their inherent possibilities, they have taught mankind at least one lesson: Nothing is impossible.” These top 5 futuristic gadgets say it all.
1 Nokia 888 social phone concept
Mobile phones
help you connect to the world from where ever and whenever you like.
But sometimes carrying them around is a hassle. But this futuristic
concept by nokia will allow you to put it on your wrist and forget about
it until you want to use it. It will take form according to your whims
and fancies and keep you updated about important dates and events.
2 Use and throw mobile phones.
The idea of a use and throw phone itself sounds futuristic,...

The USB Wall Socket is a concept idea that puts a couple of USB ports in to a wall socket allowing you easier access to charge your USB chargeable gadgets.
By putting a couple of ports in each socket, it allows for users to get rid of the power brick/transformer that comes supplied with many phones which saves waste and prevents people from needing several different plugs to charge various phones and electronics.
To cut this long route of buying compatible peripherals just for the sake of charging, why not include the USB seat into a normal socket plate? Let it sit pretty next to the 3-pin socket…just as we see in this picture! So super simple that it snapped an iF Concept Award this year!
The concept was designed by Lv Jianhua, He Dawei, Zhou Hanxiao & Xu Yao....

If you like to use your iPad for drawing (with various apps), but prefer to sit it on a desk then you face the problem of the rounded back making it wobble around a tad. What the iSketch concept aims to achieve is a platform which the iPad can sit or dock in to that sits the iPad flat on a desk. The iSketch dock has a docking port inside to allow the iPad to stay charged. The accompanying sketch pen and plenty of sketching apps make it feel like creative-utopia for the moment, but only time and a real-life product review will tell if it’s worth the effort or not!The iSketch is a concept and hasn't been built yet. We are not even sure if it ever will be built, so for now you'll need to find some other solution to sitting your iPad on a desk.Via: Yanko Concept by Psychic FactoryiSketch...

The guys at Yankodesign have posted a concept gadget called the E-Ink ruler. The e-ink ruler is a Tape Measure that uses e-ink on the tape rather than fixed drawn on measurements. By using e-ink the measuring system can be easily switched between metric or imperial to show a number more familiar with you.The e-ink tape would be designed flexible to allow it to roll up like a regular tape measure and thanks to e-ink technology, the battery could last a month or more.We don't know if anything like this would actually be practical enough to create, but I quite like the odd concept here and there to see what minds are designing around the world.More details at Yanko, via: UberGizmoE-Ink Ruler Concept...

We see quite a few cellphone concepts on our travels around the internet. Some are worthy of a mention such as the Nokia Kinetic concept that was designed by Jeremy Innes-Hopkins.The phone it's self is unique in that it has a rounded base that houses an electromagnet that can make the phone stand up when an alarm goes off or a call is received. To cancel the alarm you can just tap it back down. When the phone is automatically standing up, it can also be used to make hands free video calls if needed. The base also doubles up as a more comfortable camera grip when holding the phone in landscape mode to capture video or images. Most concepts never reach production stage for whatever reasons. However, Nokia was involved in the college course and even had someone who previously worked at Nokia...

The Consolor is a concept games console designed by Joseph Dumary. The console it's self hasn't been built and is simply a design although if made, it would certainly appeal to many people. It looks quite sleek. The front panel smooth other than where the controls are. The consolor looks slim and has the ability to connect up to 8 players together wirelessly to play against each other. The most attractive feature about the Consolor is its capacity to support 8 players altogether. That sounds really tough to believe for one but very true that you and seven of your friends can get connected in a game via this console and enjoy a superb gaming experience. The wireless facility of the console too is strong enough to let the players transfer and receive files without any trouble.Storage wise...

While I was in Los Angeles for E3, I was staying at a nice hotel that was located in a poor side of town.
I noticed that one of the buildings had, on its outside window panes, spikes. They were not spikes like the ones seen on punk rocker clothes, but they seemed to be part of the architecture itself. I began to realize that the spikes had probably been put there to deter loiterers from sitting on these window panes all day. No one wants to sit where it is uncomfortable.
I couldn’t help but think of this when I saw this bench designed by Fabian Brunsing. The basic premise is that if you want to sit on it, then you must pay for it. Depositing half a Euro will cause the spikes to retract, and you can sit comfortably.
I’m not certain if I want to live in a society that...

The HTC 1 is a concept Android smartphone designed to have minimal controls. The concept designer Andrew Kim has designed the HTC 1 to be a premium Android device. It is designed to use machined brass to add strength to the phone. The brass is coated in Silver to give it a sleek finish. The HTC 1 can stand up it's self although the kick stand used isn't added to the back of the device. Instead the end silver part of the phone rotates around when needed and falls back in place when using the phone for calls and texting etc...It is doubtful that Kim's design will ever be used although we are sure other similar looking devices will launch over the years as it does follow the trend of phones that have a single button on the front with a large screen above that. The user interface is also...

This little iPod Shuffle concept has taken inspiration from the iPhone 4 design with glass on the front and back and a steel metal band wrapping around the device.Of course it's just a render, but could indicate with the new iPhone 4 design where Apple [AAPL] is heading on other gadgets. This will definitely not be what the next iPod Shuffle looks like but it's still a decent concept that looks good. The downside of it of course is the cost to make it. The shuffle is a cheaper iPod, and if Apple put a glass front and back with a small retina style display on it then cheap wont be around any more.Via: 9to5MaciPod Shuffle Next-Gen Render Created...

The Smart Band-Aid is a device that sticks on your body and has sensors built in to measure your heart rate. The system is capable of tracking beat-to-beat heartrate monitoring while performing real time analysis. It is also believed that the band-aid will also wirelessly connect to other devices so you could wear the patch while working out and attach it to an iPhone for example although it isn't clear yet how commercial this particular product will become. Perhaps it will just stay in hospitals and be used to monitor patients for example. Not much else is known about the device other than it's capabilities to more easily monitor how the heart is doing. Ubergizmo have a fuller list of features which can be found here.Band-Aid Heart Rate Monitor...

The regular remote control has stayed quite standard over the years other than dropping a wire, adding a screen, becoming radio controlled rather than infra-red as well as being able to store several remote controls in one. You'd have probably thought by now that the remote control wasn't really going to advance that much (not referring to iPhone and iPad integrations here). Well, Microsoft [MSFT] appears to be working on a new remote control that has a six-axis sensor capable of detecting what way you are holding the device. The new remote control has controls on multiple sides and by mixing the six-axis sensor in to the package the remote control can detect which way it is being held and activate the appropriate controls. The remote control has a transparent touchscreen rather than...

The computer mouse has advanced over the years by trimming down a little, becoming optical, becoming more responsive and becoming wireless to name a few advances. The next step is to get rid of the mouse altogether and have an invisible mouse, also known as Mouseless. The concept was created by Pranav Mistry along with Patti Maes and Liyan Chang and basically gets rid of the mouse completely.By using an IR sensor with some custom software, the movements of a hand on a desk can be interpreted in to mouse and finger movement allowing users to simple glide their hand on a desk and tap the desk with their finger. The IR sensor sits on the back of a laptop and detects movement to the side of the laptop. By skimming the IR beam across the desk the software can pick up where the signal is cut...

This portable hand-held is a mock-up of what a portable would look like if it had all of the best features mixed together. The basic shape, as seen in the image above, is that of a Sony PSP although a flip up Nintendo DS style screen is also to be found along with a number of buttons and controls found on a mixture of games consoles. The design has taken features from the XBox, PSP, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Gameboy and possibly other games consoles and handhelds.Of course we will never actually see this device, but either way I thought I'd post it along anyway for you to either look or laugh at.Via: WalyouMock-Up Handheld Console Mixes all in to One...

The iWatch is a concept Apple device that is designed to be worn on the wrist. The concept design features a small screen showing the traditional slide to unlock message found on all iPhone OS devices along with the time, date and weather details. The iWatch was designed by ADR Studio based in Italy and is designed with a touchscreen on the front encased in aluminium.Other features of the concept design include Wireless for connectivity, Bluetooth for attaching a headset and a built-in pico projector.Of course, this is all just concept and Apple [AAPL] will unlikely take the idea of an iWatch and create it probably due to the lack of people who actually show interest in wrist watch phone devices. With it being concept, there is no release date available at all for this device.Via:...

Solar panels can be great in that they can provide power anywhere there is light from the sun. Right now though the panels are quite expensive to produce and require a bit of equipment to store energy captured for use at a later date.A company are now looking at printing solar cells on to paper. By using carbon-based dyes the cells are created with an efficiency of about 1.5 to 2 percent…The materials MIT researchers used are carbon-based dyes and the cells are about 1.5 percent to 2 percent efficient at converting sunlight to electricity. But any material could be used if it can be deposited at room temperature, Bulovic said. “Absolutely, the trick was coming up with ways to use paper,” he said.1.5 to 2% isn’t the best efficiency obviously and when compared to regular...

If you are wondering what the new Nintendo 3DS will look like then perhaps this fan-made rendering might give you some idea. The concept drawing uses a similar format to the traditional DS whereby the screen flips open. The top screen is 3D and the bottom screen looks to be regular 2D.The controls for the 3DS have been moved to the outside of the device in that they don’t get covered up when the top screen closes down. The left houses the D-Pad and an analogue stick while the right has the SNES style YXBA 4 button setup.Of course these are just fan-made renderings, so perhaps they will actually be nowhere near what the 3DS will look like, but due to them looking quite good I thought I’d mention them anyway. The design was done by Oliver Demangel where more of his pictures...

The iWEB 2.0 Laptop is a concept gadget that overcomes the problem of a small keyboard found on a netbook sized device. The iWEB has a fold out keyboard that essentially doubles the size of the keyboard when opened out. When the keyboard is opened up, it is the same size as a normal PC keyboard allowing you to more easily type when compared to the 92% of so sized keyboards that can be found on netbooks.Although it’s quite a good idea mixing a large keyboard in to a netbook sized casing, this particular concept design does look a tad on the bulky side which would be a downer should this ever get made.I doubt it will be a concept we’ll see make it in to production any time soon, but still, the idea was good!Via: Techi and YankoiWEB 2.0 Portable Laptop Concept...

Apple decided that the Apple iPad will use the iPhone OS running at a slightly higher resolution and from what we have seen, the iPad works very well in this configuration. We have also seen tablets before that run Android based operating systems. This particular concept tablet takes that idea but uses Windows Phone 7 Series as an operating system unlike the HP Slate that will run Windows 7.The concept designer Umang Dokey has designed an 8 inch tablet that has a couple of webcams, a built in keyboard that acts as a kick stand as well as joystick controls and shoulder buttons allowing the device to be used as a computer, for games and the joystick used also for scrolling through documents. It’s actually quite a neat idea and perhaps something that Microsoft should consider in the...

Rumours are saying that Acer are working on a new laptop that will have a frameless touchscreen and frameless touchkeyboard. Is it possible? Probably… the idea supposedly uses a reinforced glass substrate from Corning (maybe Gorilla Glass). It is unclear at the moment when this frameless laptop will be unveiled, but I wouldn’t expect it for another year or two at the earliest although the source who provided the details to DigiTimes estimates the second half of this year. The idea is similar to that of the Fujitsu Frame Zero concept that also does away with bezels which are going to be a thing of the past anyway. The Fujitsu concept is pictured above. In terms of how powerful a device like this could be, it’s certainly unknown at the moment what can be successfully squished...

Although I like the idea of putting solar panels on the roof of my home, I’m just not sure that they look good. These Solar Ivy panels aim to be a little different though making them more acceptable by making them look like Ivy growing on your house when viewed from a short distance away. The idea is just concept at the moment although the company who are wanting to develop Solar Ivy are looking to win a $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Project grant. The company responsible for the idea are called S.M.I.T which means Sustainably Minded Interactive Technology.Although they are a while away from being produced (if at all) it does give you an idea that solar panels don’t just have to be rectangular blocks sitting on the roof of your home. As of now it is not known how many bits of Ivy...

This concept idea shows a regular wall socket with an extension cable hidden behind. With the extension cable wound up in the wall the user can simply detach the socket front and pull the socket out further lengthening the amount of cord available.
The cord inside is designed to be 1.5 meters in length. To use the cord extension you simply pinch the sides of the socket and drag it out of the wall to the desired length.
When you have finished using the extended cable you give the cord a gentle tug and a spring mechanism then pulls the cable back in to the wall for storage. It’s a nifty idea although I am not sure how easy it is to store 1.5 meters of cable within the socket of the wall.

Iron your clothes with the latest U button iron, well this iron is still in concept but soon it will turn to reality. As we all know it’s damn difficult to iron the clothes which have buttons and you cannot easily iron the part nearer to the buttons. For this issue the U button iron is made. It’s a cool gadget, the name U is given as it has a U shape in front to glide near the buttons.
You can wear a fully ironed shirt and can look smarter; a well iron shirt elevates your personality. This iron has a push button and on pressing it the A shape of the iron goes in to the button part and press it properly, by pressing the push button again the A part will come out, an you will be ready with a complete iron shirt. Its easy to use this iron and it suffices 2 sharp...

The BI Handheld Shopper Gadget is a concept device that aims to help you find various shops. Looks wise, the renderings look great. It has an interchangeable back cover along with a gloss black face and steel detailing making it look rather good – in theory.
Inside you’ll find a GPS receiver that tracks your current location and the interface is designed with shopping in mind as it lists all the local shops that are nearby and overlays them on a satellite image.
I am sure there is some fancy augmented reality application that does the same on the iPhone, but if you fancy a gadget dedicated to helping you spend cash in all the local shops then this could be for you.
It was designed by Simon Enever and details can be found over on Simon’s site. More pics below…...

Intel have introduced a unique working concept notebook that has four screens built in. Don’t think that it’s 4×15″ displays all put side by side though. In this case you have 1 large screen as a normal laptop/notebook has and then below just above the keyboard you have 3 more smaller screens embedded in to the device. Each of those 3 screens near the keyboard respond to touch and can display information in widgets. Also content from the 3 screens can be dragged up to the main screen if needed.
The concept is codenamed Tangent Bay and uses 3 OLED screens as well as the primary LCD based screen.
It is also being called the worlds first multi-touch, multi-screen concept solution and although it sounds crazy I can actually see it being a very handy way of working with...

The Sonea is a concept gadget that converts noise to energy to be used to power things such as lights, mobile phone chargers and even TV’s.
The device needs to be installed in a very noisy environment to be useful, so keeping it at home might not be the best option and instead, stick it in a local construction yard.
According to it’s designers it is capable of producing 30 watts of power for each decibel of sound produced. If installed on a runway the noise from a plan can produce 240KW of power.
I’m not sure about this myself as it all seems a bit too theoretical and maybe slightly exaggerated as I would have expected a whole wall of these would be needed to produce any decent amount of power.

Although still a number of years away, a concept designer has decided to create a 3D model of a PlayStation 4. It was created by designer Tai Chiel and has a number of interesting features such as an embedded OLED screen in the transparent section to allow you to view menus, saved games and what looks to be like a game playing on one of the screen shots.
It is unclear when a PS4 will be made available as there are many years left in the PS3 and other consoles like the XBox 360, but that still doesn’t stop the design from being great.
What are your thoughts on a PS4. Will one be coming in the next few years?

Earlier this week we thought that the Wallet MID was the mystery Android device. However, it turns out that this is not the case and in fact, the mystery Android device is actually a concept device built by Rockchip.
Rockchip were using the device to demonstrate a Chinese chip makers new 720p decoding chipset. The device you saw was using the RK2808 chipset to see how it functions while using the Android OS.
Although it looks like a very nice MID it is nowhere near ready for being put in to production it doesn’t mean it wont be made, and also we should start seeing other manufactures creating devices using the new 720p chipset.

Walking on the same line is Samsung Blossom DPS camera concept that mainly targets the feminine portion of the world as this trendy looking camera displays elegance. With easy to operate functionality it sports and striking coloured demeanour, it would be heart melting for all you ladies out there.
The primary virtues of this camera are easy to understand menus with complete touchscreen navigation and Adobe Photoshop application for image editing and formatting. This cool gadget sports a nozzle that when uncapped and attached to PC through USB port would help in...

This odd looking concept device is a mixture of a tablet PC with a swivel type keyboard. The concept is that you can choose to use the tablet as a tablet, ie… write on the screen by swivelling the screen around. Also it lets you use it as a laptop but also switching the keyboard for a large touchpad.
It was created by Victor Bivol and was designed for designers so they can use a large tablet for using software such as Photoshop. This means that no Wacom tablet is needed as it has one built in.
Although very strange I guess it will work for some if it is ever created although surely users with a tablet PC can just use the screen as a “wacom style” device.

Maptor is a concept device that uses an inbuilt projector to throw a map of the current location on to a surface. It’s small enough to be worn around the neck. It has built in GPS that can track exactly where you are and then download the appropriate map and your favourite points of interest that are also projected.
The downside of this concept device is the projector. As of now there really isn’t a projector of such a small size that could successfully be used in daylight. However, a company recently were seen to be creating portable laser projectors which could potentially have application in this design.
For now, we just have to enjoy the pictures below. The concept was designed by Jin-Sun Park and Seon-keun Park.

Art Levedev Studio’s have created another concept gadget. This time they created the Navigarius which is a satnav unit that sports a round screen. It has touchscreen controls, a USB port, microSD slot and is powered by either battery or a lighter socket on your car.
It looks like it belongs in a future concept car and other than looking rather cool it looks like a pretty standard setup with the usual maps and features of ordinary satnav units.

The Haptic Reader concept is an overlay designed to help blind people read non Braille books. The device has a glass surface that is designed to rest on the pages of a regular book. Text from the page is then scanned in to the Haptic Reader and the surface has dots that protrude to make up the Braille characters.
If the user of the device doesn’t yet understand Braille then the reader makes use of a loud speaker to read out the contents of the book.
Another feature of the concept Haptic Reader is the edging also has Braille dots allowing the reader to be used as a bookmark and provide details of which book it is sat in on the bookshelf.
It’s a great idea although due to the scanning required, I don’t think it will be ready for another few years. Via: GizmoWatch

The Mint Battery is a concept gadget that explores the use of kinetic energy to keep an AA battery charged. Rather than using energy from a wall socket or solar panel the Mint Battery looks in to the idea of being able to shake the battery to create charge.
To fit everything needed to make it work the Shakenergy Mint Battery is about half the capacity of a regular rechargeable battery (maybe 750mAh – 1000mAh). What the concept shows is the charging unit being placed at the bottom of the cylinder and the half sized battery sitting just above that.
As it’s only a concept it is unknown if the Shakenergy will ever be made. Various factors such as charge time also need to be taken in to consideration. Still, a quite cool idea though regardless of it being practical or not.

Concept of the MacBook Touch
For a fun product management class over at Georgia State University, students decided to create a concept video showing what a MacBook Touch would look like. The presentation starts off with an old Mac from 1984 then quickly moves to the iPod in 2001 and then the iPhone a few years after that at which point the MacBook Touch is displayed.
The Tablet features (as a concept) has a multi-touch interface, large screen, cover flow and a transparent on-screen keyboard.
Among the features listed above, the concept MacBook touch has voice recognition, handwriting recognition, sketching capability, built in wi-fi and WiMax, iChat Video conferencing, built in GPS, eReader capabilities, MP3 player support to name a few things.
It could be really described as a stretched...

Augmented Reality Business Card
Many business cards are boring to be honest. Most, if not all just show your name, rank and how you can be contacted. A guy named James Alliban has decided to used augmented reality to create his business cards. The cards were printed at moo.com and on the back contain a graphic which is then captured on to a computer via a webcam. When the camera picks up the little graphic a cool 3D grid of coloured planes pops up, each extruding towards the camera depending on the brightness of the pixel, and then a video can be played back with the business card owner being seen talking with a message about himself.
The only downside is that the receiver of the business card needs a computer to see the content on it. Of course you can simply print the graphic on one...
