Sony Ericsson Aspen: New eco-friendly Windows Mobile smartphone
Sony Ericsson has released their new business style smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Aspen. Its the first to be running on the new Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Looking very similar to Nokia’s E series smartphones, the 3G-equipped Aspen comes with a 2.4 inch QVGA TFT touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with 4 x digital zoom, built in WiFi, A-GPS and blueooth.

Sony Ericsson takes the high road with their latest cellphone to be announced which will be part of their GreenHeart portfolio – we’re talking abou the Sony Ericsson Aspen. Sounds like some sort of high end resort, doesn’t it? Well, this eco-minded smartphone will run on the much maligned Windows Mobile platform, but comes with an added twist – it has the latest Windows Mobile 6.5.3 version which brings a slew of improvements and updates – more on it later in the extended post, let us take a look at the hardware specifications first. The Sony Ericsson Aspen is positioned as a business smartphone with green credentials, boasting multi-tasking capability with a touch experience and QWERTY keyboard which is more than handy to get those text messages and emails...

Being aimed at the busy business-person you get a QWERTY-board for firing off emails and a touchscreen to ease the multi-tasking.
You’re able to organise and adapt panels to change during the day and use Slide View for quick access to common features.
The user will also be able to view and edit office files easily with one touch operation and jump onto the web in one click.
Your company will rest a little easier after those ‘business lunches’ as, should the handest be left in the back of a cab after that liquid lunch, Microsoft’s MyPhone service will be able to remotely erase phone data.

National Geographic’s magazine site has some interviews with attendees of the Aspen Institute’s Environmental Forum.
Interviewees include Canadian Inuit activist and Nobel Prize nominee Sheila Watt-Cloutier, who says those at the top of the world acutely feel the effects of global warming, climatologist Konrad Steffen talks about the surprising speed of ice loss in Greenland, and friend of Life Goggles Josh Dorfman, author of The Lazy Environmentalist, who explains that fighting climate change doesn’t require busy, stressed-out people to change their nature.
